Greetings!

Welcome to PiledriverEngine.com, home of the open-source XNA 2D game engine project. PiledriverEngine.com is also host to a forum and wiki. The forum is geared toward getting people started in XNA development, as well as offer a place to discuss the further development of the game engine. The wiki is designed to offer a place where folks both new and familiar to XNA development can sharpen their skills in that area.

When I first started learning to code in this flexible environment, most tutorials for XNA assumed you had a decent knowledge and understanding of C#, or at least of OOP (Object Oriented Programming). Most C# tutorials assumed you wanted to build databases and .Net applications. This was frustrating, as it seemed there were a whole lot of folks out there that wanted to jump in to game programming that had little or unrelated programming experience, and had no use for the non-game-related aspects of C#.

Ideally, the forum and wiki are designed to work together. If a programmer has a question about XNA, C#, or the Piledriver engine on the forum, those with the knowhow are encouraged to either edit an existing article, or write a new one to address the question. The end result will hopefully be a wiki functioning as a comprehensive go-to place for anything XNA related.

We are only just getting started, and I encourage you to join the project, whether you have something to teach or to learn.
